Box Score BELMONT, N.C. — Belmont Abbey's
Haley Long opened the scoring midway through the second half, but Converse equalized 13 minutes later in for a 1-1 draw in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
With the result, Belmont Abbey moves to 5-2-3 overall and 3-1-3 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Valkyries now stand 2-4-3, 2-3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, Long knocked in a cross to the front of the goal in the 65th minute. Erin Walker delivered a perfect cross from the right side of the penalty area. The goal with Long's fifth of the season, tying her for the team lead.
- Converse answered in the 79th minute on a shot from the top of the penalty area.
- Long led the Crusaders with four shots, including one on goal. Jaden Radestock had the only shot on goal for the Crusaders.
- Belmont Abbey generated seven shots in the second half after both teams recorded five in the opening period. The Crusaders finished with a 12-6 advantage in the category
- Ryleigh Dougherty made three saves, including two in the opening half.
- The Crusaders controlled 60 percent of possession and held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
