TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Tyler Case and Renata Bolado posted double-doubles and Lola Sultenfuss also reached double figures in kills, but Belmont Abbey dropped a 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-20) decision to North Greenville in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Wednesday night.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in Conference Carolinas play, while North Greenville improves to 7-7, 3-3. The teams are 1-1 and 2-1 in division play, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Case tallied 10 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double, while Bolado's 10 kills and 11 digs marked her sixth double-double.
- Sultenfuss hit .296 with 11 kills and three errors on 27 attempts
- Emma Youngblood finished with 31 assists and six digs, while Sheridan Young led the Abbey with 14 digs.
- Mary Grace Hogue served all four of The Abbey's aces.
- Belmont Abbey rallied from an early deficit in the opening set, eventually taking a 21-20 lead before closing on a 5-1 run to win 25-21.
- North Greenville answered in the second set, using a 7-1 stretch to build a 15-8 advantage before taking the set 25-16.
- The Crusaders battled back from an 11-4 deficit in the third set, cutting the margin to 11-10, but North Greenville pulled away late with an 8-1 run to claim the set 25-17.
- Belmont Abbey again stayed within striking distance in the fourth set, trailing 17-15 before North Greenville extended its lead and closed out the match 25-20.
