Crusaders, Mount Olive Draw in Saturday Women's Soccer Action

BELMONT, N.C. -- Caroline Roche scored her second goal of the season, but Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive played to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Alumni Field.

The Crusaders move to 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-2 in Conference Carolinas, while Mount Olive now stands 1-2-2 and 0-0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Belmont Abbey controlled the opening half, holding an 8-2 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • Roche put the Crusaders ahead in the 32nd minute when she finished a pass from Haley Long, but Mount Olive equalized just over over four minutes later.
  • The teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
  • Mount Olive generated mor.e pressure in the second half, outshooting Belmont Abbey 8-3.
  • Ryleigh Dougherty made all five of her saves in the second half to help keep the match tied.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with an 11-10 advantage in shots and a 7-7 tie in shots on goal.
