CENTRAL, S.C. — Caleb Burr had three hits and drove in four runs and Drew Stegura picked up his eighth win of the season as the Belmont Abbey baseball team returned to Conference Carolinas play with a 14-7 win over Southern Wesleyan Friday at Dr. C. Keith Connor Field.

The Crusaders jumped out to a fast start by scoring five runs in the first two innings and broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning.

With Friday's results, Belmont Abbey is now 29-9 overall and 20-5 in Conference Carolinas play. Southern Wesleyan is 14-27 overall and 8-17 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Crusaders got on the board with a pair of RBI singles from Michael Fattore and Jake Bidoglio in the first inning.
• Burr added his 13th home run of the season in the second inning to make it 5-0 Belmont Abbey.
• After Southern Wesleyan added a run in the third, the Crusaders pulled away in the fourth starting with an RBI from Burr on a bases-loaded walk.
• Jacob Steinberg and Bidoglio added RBI singles while Velotta drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
• He later scored on an RBI single from Boyles as Belmont Abbey capitalized on three errors from Southern Wesleyan in the inning.
• Stegura finished with two runs allowed on four hits and struck out five in six innings of work.
• Belmont Abbey scored runs in each of the final three innings to cap off the victory.
• Five Crusaders finished with multiple hits on the evening.
