BELMONT, N.C. -- Garrett Clare and
Garren Berkman scored goals, but Belmont Abbey fell to Florida Tech 14-2 Saturday in collegiate men's lacrosse action Saturday at Alumni Field. The matchup featured teams that were both receiving votes in the USILA Top 20 poll this week.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 3-3, while the Panthers improve to 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Florida Tech built a 10-0Â lead by the 2:43 mark of the second quarter before Clare put the Crusaders on the board just over one minute later.
- Berkman found the cage off an assist from Brandon Boschi with 5:27 remaining in the contest.
- Florida Tech outshot The Abbey 48-31 overall and 20-13 on goal.
- Both teams registered 28 ground balls and the Crusaders had one fewer turnover, 20 vs. 21.
- Belmont Abbey's two goalies each played a half, with both making three saves.
