Boschi, Lorenzo Tally Five Goals Each as Abbey Defeats Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Brendan Boschi and Nate Lorenzo each tallied five goals as the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team capped off its three-game road trip with a 23-6 victory over Young Harris Saturday afternoon at the YHC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex.

Boschi added four assists to his total while Lorenzo added a pair of assists as well. Four other Crusaders had two-goal games as the Abbey extended its winning streak to four games.

With the win, Belmont Abbey improves to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play.  Young Harris is 2-8 overall and 1-1 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lorenzo got the Abbey on the board with the first two goals of the game.
  • The Crusaders had the first five goals of the contest before Young Harris got on the board.
  • Belmont Abbey shut out the Mountain Lions 5-0 in the second quarter to take a 12-ead into halftime.
  • The Crusaders kept it rolling with two goals in the first minute of the second half from Lorenzo and Garren Berkman.
  • John Valetto added a goal of his own before Young Harris scored two goals.
  • The Crusaders closed the third quarter with four straight goals.
  • Connor Mann and Elliott Malcolm scored two goals each to cap off the scoring in the fourth quarter for the Abbey. Mann also added two assists.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with 59 shots for the game, 39 on goal.
  • Michael Aber finished with 10 ground balls and was 15-of-22 on faceoffs.
  • Jake Tobin was 9-of-10 on faceoffs and had six ground balls.
  • Matthew Peterson and Will Rowley led the Crusaders with two caused turnovers each.
  • Eddie Kielkopf and Fynn Ziebarth each played a half in the win. Kielkopf had four saves and Ziebarth had five.

UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey returns home to face North Greenville on Tuesday.
  • The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Alumni Field.
  • The contest is a rematch of last year's Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship game.
