Late-Inning Surge Lifts Abbey Baseball to Victory at No. 9 Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey scored eight runs over the final two innings and the late surge proved to be the difference as the Crusaders defeated No. 9 Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday evening at Durham Field.

The contest was previously scheduled to be played at Abbey Yard but was moved to field conditions following Monday's inclement weather.

Six Crusaders had multi-hit days, including Caleb Burr and Joe Whitaker, while Jacob Steinberg led the Abbey with four runs batted in.

With Tuesday's result, Belmont Abbey improves to 17-8 on the season while Lenoir-Rhyne is 18-5-1.
