BELMONT, N.C. -- Zach Puentes hit .405 with 17 kills and added eight digs, helping Belmont Abbey to a thrilling 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13 victory over Tusculum in collegiate men's volleyball action Saturday night
With the win, the Crusaders -- who are receiving votes in the AVCA 20 Top 25 poll -- remain undefeated at 3-0. The Pioneers fall to 6-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentes had just two errors in 37 attempts. He also had a service ace and three block assists.
- Caden Day topped double figures in kills for the third time in as many outings this season with 13 kills, while Jabriel Elhaddad added nine.
- Joseph Morris dished out 52 assists while registering a career high-tying seven kills. He hit a team high .417 (7k-2e-12a) in the contest, while adding an ace with three blocks.
- Belmont Abbey hit .245 as a team, while Tusculum to a 193 hitting percentage
- The Pioneers stayed in the contest in part due to 33 service hours by the Crusaders.
