BELMONT, N.C. — Nine innings was not enough to decide a winner in the series finale for the Belmont Abbey baseball team against Mount Olive Saturday afternoon at Abbey Yard.
Caleb Burr drove in three runs but despite the effort, it was the Trojans who came away with the 6-5 victory over the Crusaders in 11 innings.
Tied at 5-5 heading into extras, a go-ahead RBI double for Mount Olive proved to be the difference.
Belmont Abbey closes the weekend with a 9-3 record and 8-1 mark in Conference Carolinas play. Mount Olive is 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the league.
