BELMONT, N.C. — Caleb Burr recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season as the Belmont Abbey baseball team faced Wingate on a chill day Tuesday at Abbey Yard.
Despite the two hits, the Crusaders were shut out 11-0 by the Bulldogs in a midweek contest.
Belmont Abbey is now 9-4 on the season while Wingate is 11-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs got on the board with a two-run single in the top of the first inning.
- Burr got the first of his two hits to lead off the bottom of the second.
- Wingate extended its lead with a two-run home run in the third.
- Jack Boyles, Jake Bidoglio all recorded hits for the Crusaders.
- Ethan Yarbrough pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Abbey, recording a strikeout and not allowing a hit in his time out of the bullpen.
- Isaac Willliams also pitched a scoreless eighth inning in relief.
- The Bulldogs hit another home run in the sixth and three runs each in the seventh and ninth innings to cap the scoring.
