BELMONT, N.C. -- Addyson Greenspan scored four goals and added two assists but Rockhurst scored the game-winner in overtime to defeat Belmont Abbey 12-11 in collegiate women's lacrosse action Friday afternoon. The contest was the home opener for The Abbey, which played its first three games on the road.
The Crusaders fall to 2-2 with the result while the Hawks remain undefeated at 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greenspan's six points were a career high, while her four goals ties her best at Young Harris last year as a freshman. She led the team in both shots (seven) and shots on goal (five).
- Kaitlyn Miller scored twice but also had a late goal disallowed by a crease violation, while six other players had a single tally.
- Yianna Giannoulis had a team-best three draw controls, while Taylor Tobin caused three turnovers, gained two ground balls and had two draw controls.
- Summer Eddinger made 14 saves and had four ground balls , but took the loss in goal.
- Belmont Abbey scored four straight goals at the end of the second quarter to turn a 5-4 deficit into an 8-5 lead at intermission.
- The Crusaders later led 11-6 midway through the third, but the Hawks tallied the game's final six goals -- three in the third, two in the fourth and the overtime strike -- for the win.
