BELMONT, N.C. -- Gabe Cerda led three players in double figures, but it was not enough as Barton earned a 74-66 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The result, which spoiled the Crusaders' senior day, drops them to 6-16 overall and 4-12 in league play. The Bulldogs improve to 11-14, 9-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cerda tallied 13 points with Myles Smith and Alhousseny Diallo each adding 12.
- Diallo was the rebounding leader with six, while three players had a team-high two assists.
- Belmont Abbey committed a season-low four turnovers and made three steals
- The Crusaders connected on 57.1% of their shots after intermission (16 of 28) and finished with a final total of 46.2% (24 of 52). However, Barton made 11 of 22 3-pointers, six more than The Abbey, for the victory.
- Belmont Abbey hit 13 of 14 free throws for a season-high percentage of 92.9.
- Five seniors -- Brian Carter, Josh Lindsey, Lex Van Den Bergh, Daniel Lubamba and Diallo -- were honored in a pregame ceremony.
