TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Daniel Lubamba tallied 20 to lead four players in double figures, but North Greenville outlasted Belmont Abbey 81-74 in overtime in a battle of the top two teams in the Conference Carolinas Northwest Division.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 6-15 overall and 4-11 in league play, while the Trailblazers clinch a share of the division title at 14-8, 9-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lubamba hit four of his six baskets from behind the arc and was perfect in four free-throw attempts. He posted a team-high seven rebounds and dished out two assists.
- Myles Smith added 17 points and six rebounds, while Gabe Cerda chipped in 17 points. Cerda also topped the Crusaders in assists with five.
- Franklin Davis rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
- The Abbey trailed by nine, 60-51, with 6:40 to play, but used a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take a one-point advantage. The Crusaders led 66-64 on two Lubamba makes at the charity stripe, but NGU forced overtime on a basket with 36 seconds left.
- Belmont Abbey never led in the extra session.
