ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. -- Belmont Abbey opened its women's volleyball season Friday afternoon splitting two matches at the Roar Classic on Long Island. The Crusaders dropped the opener 3-1 (25-19, 17-25, 25-13, 25-18) at host Molloy, before sweeping Wilmington (Del) 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20).
Chloe Lowder finished the day with 18 kills and a .405 hitting percentage while adding eight blocks.
Emma Youngblood dished out 62 assists.
THE MOLLOY MATCH
- Renata Bolado tallied a team-high 10 kills and added seven digs.
- Lowder hit .304 with nine kills against two errors in 23 chances. She also registered four block assists.
- Youngblood was credited with 30 assists, while sharing the team lead in digs with eight. Kyleigh Coghlan and Maya Swenson also reached eight digs in the contest.
- Swenson served three of the team's five aces.
THE WILMINGTON MATCH
- Lowder connected at a .571 clip (9k-1e-14a) to lead the team. She also registered a block solo and three block assists.
- Jordan Medina also tallied nine kills (.412), while Lola Sultenfuss added eight (.462) and five digs.
- Youngblood was credited with 32 assists and six digs
