INDIANA, Pa. — The Belmont Abbey field hockey team opened up its 2025 season with a road contest at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Friday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.

The Crusaders dropped the opening contest 3-0 to the Crimson Hawks as the contest was the season opener for both the Abbey and IUP.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams were scoreless through the first half of the opening quarter with no shots recorded.
• IUP took a 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.
• The Abbey's first shot came from Isabella Hite six minutes into the second quarter.
• Cecilia Muller and Grace Hudson were both credited with defensive saves in the frame.
• Skyler Scieretta and Isabel Stankiewicz both took shots for the Abbey.
• Lily Willard made her first career start in goal and made four saves.
• IUP's final goal came in the final seconds of the third quarter.
