BANNER ELK, N.C. — Sam Reynolds scored his third goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey men's soccer team earned a point thanks to a 1-1 draw against Lees-McRae Wednesday afternoon at Tate Field.
Reynolds scored his third goal of the season early in the second half before Lees-McRae answered with a goal in the final 10 minutes of the match.
It is the first draw of the season for the Crusaders, who are now 3-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae is now 1-3-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ömer Gülmez took the first shot of the match six minutes into the match.
- The Crusaders made five saves in the first half, three by the team and two from Trent McConnaughey.
- Lees-McRae took six shots in the first 45 minutes compared to five for the Abbey.
- Reynolds' goal came in the 49th minute when he scored on a breakaway and tucked it away from the near post.
- The match was delayed in the 63rd minute due to lightning in the area.
- Lees-McRae's equalizer came in the 84th minute of the match.
- The Crusaders finished with nine shots in the match, three on target.
