BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team returned home to face off against No. 14 Young Harris Saturday night at Alumni Field.
The Crusaders battled but despite out-shooting the Mountain Lions 12-8, Young Harris came away with the 2-0 victory.
With Saturday's result, Belmont Abbey is now 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Young Harris is now 6-0-1 overall and 5-0-0 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Ball and Darren Lawlor accounted for the first five shots of the match for Belmont Abbey.
- The first goal from Young Harris came with just over three minutes remaining in the first half.
- The second goal from the Mountain Lions came in the 72nd minute of the match.
- Belmont Abbey finished with a dozen shots for the match, five on target.
- Both teams finished with five corner kicks.
- Trent McConnaughey made one save for the Abbey.
