BELMONT, N.C. -- Nate Lorenzo tallied five points on four goals and an assist and
Mikey Sweigart added four goals, leading Belmont Abbey to a 13-6 win over Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The victory was the sixth straight for the Crusaders.
With the win, The Abbey, which has been receiving votes in the USILA Top 20 the last two weeks, improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, while the Trojans fall to 4-6, 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saturday marked the fourth time in seven games that Lorenzo had tallied at least four goals. Two of his goals came in the first quarter, the latter with just six seconds remaining to make the score 4-1.
- Sweigart's four goals tied a career-high from his freshman season. He has now scored at least one goal in each of his eight contests.
- Five other Crusaders found the net -- Sam Walser, Thomas Lewis, John Valetto, Jeremy Mahoney and Stanton Divine. Lewis' strike just 1:13 into the contest was the game-winner.
- Michael Dixon led the team in ground balls with five, while goalie Christian Tomei added four.
- Tomei made 11 saves before leaving the game after three quarters.
- The Crusaders increased the 4-1 lead after 15 minutes to 9-3 by halftime and held UMO scoreless over the final 15 minutes.
