BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Jibriel Elhaddad registered a career-high 17 kills, hitting .714 in the process, and
Zach Puentes added 15, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 3-1 (25-14, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16) victory over King in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Crusaders improve to 9-6 overall, 7-1 in league play, while the Tornado falls to 2-13, 2-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elhaddad had just two errors in 21 attempts, giving his the third-best hitting percentage in a match in school history. He also added five blocks to reach 20 points and had seven digs with three assists.
- Puentes connected at a .294 clip (15k-5e-34a) as he reached double figures in kills for the ninth time this season.
- Joseph Morris dished out 39 assists and had eight digs. He added three blocks and was one of three players to serve an ace.
- Ryan Charles and Garrett Hockman also had service aces.
- Caden Day led the defensive effort with a a career-best 10 digs, while chipping in seven kills.
- Belmont Abbey hit .288 as a team with 54 kills and 20 errors in 118 chances.
