BELMONT, N.C. -- Christian Tomei made 15 saves and three Crusaders combined for seven goals, leading Belmont Abbey to a 10-6 victory over Florida Southern in collegiate men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. Both teams were receiving votes in the USILA Division II poll this week.

With the win, the Crusaders improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Mocs fall to 1-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jack Clough scored three goals, while Mikey Sweigart and Nate Lorenze added two goals each.
• Xavier Miller, Connor Mann and Jeremy Mahoney rounded out the scoring.
• Garrett Clare dished out three assists to match Clough's three points.
• 16 different players registered a ground ball, led by Ben Johnson ith four, while Alex Garcia caused a team-best three turnovers.
• Belmont Abbey jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes but FSC closed to within 4-3 on a man-up goal with 5:05 left before halftime. However, Mann's goal 21 seconds before the break started a string of six straight goals and led to a 10-3 margin near the end of the game.
