BELMONT, N.C. -- Garrett Clare and
Mikey Sweigart scored two goals each, but a big second quarter propelled eighth-ranked Rollins to a 17-6 victory over Belmont Abbey in men's lacrosse action Friday afternoon. The Tars outscored the Crusaders 8-1 in the period after holding a 1-0 lead after the first.
The Abbey falls to 1-1 on the season, while Rollins was playing its 2025 opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sweigart added an assist for a team-high three points.
- Garren Berkman and Jeremy Mahoney tallied the other two goals.
- Â Belmont Abbey picked up 18 ground balls, led by Mahoney with five and Christian Tomei with four.
- Mahoney had two of the eight caused turnovers.
- Tomei finished the contest with a career-high 19 saves.
