TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Zach Puentes tallied 12 kills and three blocks and Belmont Abbey's liberos combined for 11 digs, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) win over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, The Abbey improves to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the Trailblazers fall to 4-5, 3-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentes hit .357 in the contest with just two errors against his 12 kills in 28 attempts. He served two of the team's three aces and had three block assists for 15.5 points.
- Jibriel Elhaddad connected at a .545 clip (8k-2e-11a) and led the team with five blocks, all assists.
- Garrett Hockman added six kills (.500 hitting percentage) with three blocks and two digs.
- Ryan Charles served The Abbey's other ace.
- Joseph Morris dished out 28 assists, while adding a pair of kills, five digs and three blocks.
- Alejandro Leon and Christian Rodriguez made six and five digs, respectively. As a team, the Crusaders had 30 digs.
