FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — The Belmont Abbey baseball team took its second straight Conference Carolinas series with a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel at Tommy Carey Field.
The Crusaders took the first game 7-3 before closing out the series with a convincing 15-0 victory over the Lions.
Spencer Cipro and
Ethan Wilson both earned wins on the mound for the Crusaders while
Michael Fattore had four hits over the course of the day, including a home run in the second game.
Belmont Abbey is now 10-4 overall, 4-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Emmanuel is now 8-7 overall and 2-4 in the league.
GAME 1
- The Crusaders opened the scoring with Joe Whitaker after scoring on a double steal.
- Caleb Burr added a two-run home run to take a 3-0 lead after the inning.
- After the Lions scored a run in the second, Jackson Risk hit a two-run home run for a 5-1 lead.
- Emmanuel added another run in the third but Connor Tucker and Russell Golembe had RBIs in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.
- Cipro earned his third win of the season after pitching six innings and allowing just two earned runs and two strikeouts.
- Joseph Hackmann pitched a scoreless seventh inning to close the game out for the Crusaders.
GAME 2
- Michael Fattore got the scoring in the second inning with a two-run home run in the second inning.
- Belmont Abbey added a three-spot in the fourth inning that included four RBI singles from Carter DuHaime and Connor Tucker.
- Ethan Wilson put together his second strong start of the week, allowing just two hits and striking out nine.
- The Crusaders broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning and a six-run seventh inning.
- Belmont Abbey had six Crusaders with multiple hits in the second game. Michael Fattore had three while Joe Whitaker, Tucker, Josh Wilson, Jack Boyles and Carter Duhaime had two each.
- Carson Dahle finished with three strikeouts in relief while the Crusader pitching staff accounted for 14 strikeouts.

- The Crusaders return home for a week of games against top-ranked teams.
- Belmont Abbey hosts No. 17 Catawba on Tuesday at 5 p.m. before hosting No. 1 North Greenville in a three-game series next weekend.
