GREENWOOD, S.C. — After playing nine straight home games, the Belmont Abbey baseball team took to the road for a non-conference game at Lander Tuesday at Dolny Stadium.
Lander jumped out to an early lead and ended a late Belmont Abbey rally as the Crusaders dropped a 6-1 game to the Bearcats on Tuesday.
Matthew Fattore had a two-hit day while
Todd Velotta drove in the only run for the Abbey.
Belmont Abbey is now 8-3 on the season while Lander is 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey faced an early deficit as the Bearcats scored six runs in the first three innings of the contest.
- Velotta was the first Crusader to reach base safely in the fourth inning on a Bearcats error.
- Matthew Fattore recorded the first hit of the game for Belmont Abbey in the seventh inning.
- Jack Boyles scored the lone run for the Abbey in the eighth inning off an RBI single from Velotta.
- Seth Edgerton pitched a career-high four innings in relief for Belmont Abbey and struck out four and allowed just two hits.
