Strong Pitching Helps Abbey Baseball Take Rubber Game over SWU

BELMONT, N.C. — Ethan Wilson pitched five no-hit innings and two other Belmont Abbey pitchers combined to hold Southern Wesleyan to just three hits as the Crusaders earned a 5-1 win Monday at Abbey Yard. The final game of the three-game series had been rescheduled from Saturday due to inclement weather.

Wilson pitched 5.2 innings and allowed just one run and one hit and struck out three. Layton Dickerson and Joseph Hackmann accounted for the final outs of the game and allowed just one hit each as the Crusaders took the series from the Warriors.

With the win, Belmont Abbey improves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Southern Wesleyan is 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the league.
