BELMONT, N.C. -- Zach Puentes posted a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs, and Belmont Abbey hit .330 as a team, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 27-25) victory over Barton in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Crusaders even their record at 5-5, while improving to 3-1 in league play. The Bulldogs suffered their first conference loss to fall to 8-5, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentes hit .478 with just one error in 23 attempts. He also had two assists and a block assist in his stat line.
- Caden Day reached 10 kills, hitting .300 (10k-4e-20e), while chipping in five digs.
- Matthew Staskunas added eight kills on a .368 hitting percentage, while adding seven digs with Jibriel Elhadded connecting at a .455 clip (7k-2e-11a).
- Setter Joseph Morris dished out 37 assists, while libero Alejandro Leon tallied six digs.
- As a team, Belmont Abbey had 42 kills as a team, with just 12 errors in 91 attempts. Barton hit just .075.
- Garrett Hockman served the only ace.
