BELMONT, N.C. -- Zach Puentes tallied 10 kills and
Caden Day added seven, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) victory King in Conference Carolina's men's volleyball action Wednesday night. The sweep was the second straight to open the league schedule.
The victory evens the Crusaders' record at 4-4, 2-0, while the Tornado falls to 0-9, 0-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentes did not have an error in 13 chances to hit .769. He also added five digs and a block assist.
- Day hit .286 on a 7-k-3e-14a performance. His eight digs were a team- and season-high, while he chipped in two aces and three assists, also his season bests.
- Joseph Morris dished out 30 assists, while chipping in five kills, five digs and three blocks (two solo).
- Matthew Staskunas served three of the Crusaders' six aces.
- Garrett Hockman had five kills in six chances (.833), earning his third start of the campaign.
- Freshmen Jude Roondo and TJ Neville made their first career appearance, each tallying their first career kills.
