BELMONT, N.C. -- Alhousseny Diallo tied a career-high for points and
Daniel Lubamba reached his career best for rebounds, leading Belmont Abbey to a 95-61 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg in non-conference men's basketball action Monday night.
With the result, the Crusaders improve to 2-3, while the Dragons fall to 0-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Diallo hit seven of 10 field goals and made all four of his free throws en route to 18 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
- Matas Piktuizis (14), Will Nathaniel (13) and Elijah Burnett (12) also reached double figures in points.
- Lubamba grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds, including 11 on the defensive end. He just missed a double-double with eight points, while dishing out four assists.
- Burnett led the team in assists with seven.
- The Crusaders fell behind 5-0 in the first two minutes, but outscored the Dragons 20-5 over the final seven minutes for a 47-27 lead at intermission.
- Diallo scored eight of the Crusaders first 10 points in the second half, helping them stretch the lead to 65-33 in the first five minutes.
- Belmont Abbey made over half its shots for the first time this season, connecting on 52.0 percent (39 of 75) from the field., while the 53 rebounds were also the most in the first five games.
