BELMONT, N.C. -- Junior
Judah Ravenell posted his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and
Daniel Lubamba added 16 points, leading Belmont Abbey to a 78-67 victory over King in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Tuesday night.
With the win, the Crusaders improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in league play while the Tornado fall to 0-5, 0-1. The contest was also the first in Northwest Division play for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matas Piktuizis chipped in 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds while also blocking three shots. He connected on seven of 13 attempts from the field.
- Belmont Abbey never trailed in the contest after scoring the first 11 points by the 16:03 mark.
- The Crusaders blocked seven shots as a team. Franklin shared the team lead with three, while William Nathaniel added the final rejection.
- The Crusaders limited King to just 35.2% from the field including 29.4% before intermission.
- The Abbey also had a season-low 10 turnovers while forcing 11.
- King won the Battle of the boards 51-48.
- Belmont Abbey had 13 players see action.
