BELMONT, N.C. -- Renata Bolado and
Emma Youngblood both posted a double-double for the fifth straight match, but Belmont Abbey came up short against Southern Wesleyan 3-1 (26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18) in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon. Bolado tallied 16 kills and 14 digs -- both team highs -- while Youngblood had 47 assists and 13 digs.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in league play, while the Warriors improve to 6-5, 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lola Sultenfuss and Katie Brookins also reached double figures in kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Sultenfuss hit a team-best .280 (12k-5e-25a), while adding a pair of block assists.
- Liberos Kyleigh Coghlan and Sheridan Young each had 11 digs to give The Abbey four in double figures.
- Belmont Abbey had five service aces with Youngblood tallying two.
- Coghlan was a member of the school's homecoming court, but missed the ceremony to play in the match.
