Jordan Scores for Third Straight Match, Abbey Ties at Barton

WILSON, N.C. — Sam Jordan scored his third goal in as many matches as the Belmont Abbey men's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

Both teams scored in the first half as the Crusaders closed the week with their second straight draw and fifth in the last seven matches.

With Friday's result, Belmont Abbey is now 5-3-6 overall and 3-2-6 in Conference Carolinas play. Barton is now 6-7-3 overall and 5-4-2 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jordan took the first shot of the match three minutes in.
  • Trent McConnaughey withstood an early surge from the Bulldogs with three saves in the first 17 minutes.
  • Blake Grove got Barton on the board with his goal in the 22nd minute.
  • Jordan got the equalizer in the 34th minute of the match. He led the Crusaders with five shots, two on target.
  • McConnaughey made two more saves in the second half for five on the match.
  • Both teams finished with 19 shots for the match. The Crusaders finished with seven shots on goal compared to six for Barton.
  • Belmont Abbey remains unbeaten for the month of October with a 2-0-5 record.
