CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Grace Hines scored her second goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team began its closing road stretch of the season at Division I opponent Queens Friday evening at Bessant Field.
Despite the goal from the senior midfielder, it was the Royals who came away with the 4-1 over the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey is now 9-5 overall after its four-game winning streak came to an end. Queens is now 3-11 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Queens got on the board just over three minutes into the contest.
- Isabel Stankiewicz took the first shot of the game for the Crusaders six minutes in.
- Lily Willard made the first of her five saves in the first quarter.
- After the Royals made it 2-0 in the early moments of the second quarter, Hines got the Crusaders on the board off a penalty corner.
- Sarah Schumacher was credited with her second assist of the season.
- The Royals capped the scoring with two more goals in the third quarter.
- Belmont Abbey finished with five shots, four on goal.
- Both teams had six penalty corners each.

- The Crusaders continue the closing stretch with a contest at Converse.
- The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be the final countable South Atlantic Conference game of the season.
