BELMONT, N.C. — Seven different Crusaders scored a goal as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team earned an 11-0 victory over Virginia State Wednesday afternoon in nonconference play at Alumni Field.
Haley Long recorded her first collegiate hat trick in the contest while
Sabrina Cunha and
Caroline Roche finished with braces to their credit.
With the win, Belmont Abbey improves to 5-3-1 on the season while Virginia State is now 1-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McKenna Schwarz scored her first goal of the season in the 20th minute of the match.
- Long scored the first of her three goals in the 22nd minute from Jadyn Radestock. She scored the final goal of the first half as well.
- Erin Walker tallied her first career goal off assists from Long and Fina Mochi.
- The Crusaders outshot the Trojans 25-1 in the first 45 minutes.
- Cunha's two goals came less than a minute apart early in the second half.
- Anna Richard had assists on the two Cunha goals and added one herself in the 53rd minute.
- Long scored her third in the 57th minute off an assist from Addie Galek.
- Hannah Willis scored in the 62nd minute off assists from Mochi and Sofia Colon-Gonzalez.
- Caroline Roche capped the scoring with the final two goals.
- The Crusaders finished with 13 assists in the match.
- Belmont Abbey finished with 54 shots, 29 on target.
