HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Belmont Abbey wrapped up its first weekend of non-conference tournament play Saturday with a pair of 3-1 setbacks at the 2024 Coker Cobras Classic. The Crusaders opened the day with a 25-11, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12 decision to USC-Aiken before falling to the host Cobras 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21.
With the results, The Abbey falls to 1-3 on the season.
THE USC-AIKEN MATCH
- Katie Brookings led the way with six kills, while adding seven digs and a block.
- Tyler Case added four kills and had one of three aces by the Crusaders.
- Mallory Swain led The Abbey in digs with eight, while Lily Marsh also registered seven.
- Lily Marsh and Swain were also atop the team in assists with three each.
THE COKER MATCH
- Chloe Lowder, Brookings and Case all topped double figures in kills. Lowder and Brookings established career highs with 12, while Case added 11.
- Ella Schellenberg dished out a team-high 39 assists.
- Case completed her first career double-double by adding 16 digs. Kyleigh Coghlan (13) and Marsh (10) also reached double digs.
- Lowder, Lola Sultenfuss and Delaney Watson led the defensive effort with three blocks each.

- Belmont Abbey travels to its second in-season tournament of the year next weekend when it heads to the Flagler Saints Classic in St. Augustine, Fla.
- The Crusaders face Nova Southeastern and Trevecca Nazarene on Friday.
