MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.— The Belmont Abbey field hockey team closed out its opening weekend of games with a contest against No. 3 Shippensburg Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
Chloe Parker made 10 saves — the sixth time in her Crusader career — but it was the Raiders who came away with the 6-0 victory.
Belmont Abbey is now 0-2 on the season while Shippensburg is now 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Parker made four saves as the Crusaders held the Raiders scoreless in the first quarter.
- Belmont Abbey had five shots in the contest, led by two each from Casey Etter and Marie Camastro. Etter's two shots on goal came in the second quarter.
- Shippensburg scored three goals in the second quarter.
- The Raiders added two more goals in the third quarter and another in the fourth.
- Camastro had the other shot on goal for the Abbey.
- Belmont Abbey had four penalty corners on the day.

- Belmont Abbey opens South Atlantic Conference play at Converse at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Weisiger Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
- The Abbey will play its next two contests on the road before opening the home schedule against Newberry on September 17.
