Ella Schellenberg recorded her second straight double-double and
Tyler Case tallied a team-high 13 kills, leading Belmont Abbey to a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-16) victory over Chowan in Conference Carolinas women's volleball action Saturday afternoon. The win was the second straight to open the league slate and completed a weekend sweep of teams in Eastern North Carolina.
The Abbey now stands 3-7, 2-0 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 2-7, 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schellenberg dished out 21 assists and had 10 digs, both team highs. The double-double was her third of the season and second in as many days.
- Case finished with a team-best .226 hitting percentage (13k-6e-31a), while adding two digs.
- Katie Brookins tallied seven kills, four digs and two block assists. She also had two of the Crusaders' 10 service aces.
- Schellenberg and Lily Marsh added two aces each with four others registering one.
- Riley Nikol had seven digs with Lola Sultenfuss chipping in six and two blocks.
