GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Freshman
Elizabeth Young was the top Belmont Abbey runner Saturday, highlighting the Crusaders' performance at the season-opening meet, the Furman Invitational. She finished 59th overall with a time of 24:18.5 and was the top Division II finisher in the competition.
As a team, The Abbey finished ninth in the 10-team field, defeating Conference Carolinas counterpart Southern Wesleyan. The top eight teams were all from Division I, including the host Paladins and South Carolina.
Belmont Abbey continues its season next weekend at the Converse Kick-off at Millikin Park in Spartanburg. The site is also hosting the Conference Carolinas Championship and the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
