Etter Tallies Second Goal of Season Against Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. —  Casey Etter tallied her second goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team faced Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Graham Gill Field.
 
The Crusaders attempted to rally but the Bulldogs held on for the 2-1 victory.
 
With Saturday's result, Belmont Abbey is 0-4 overall, 0-2 in league play. Wingate is now 2-0 overall with both victories coming in conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders were able to get a pair of penalty corners early in the match.
  • Wingate got on the board less than two minutes into the contest.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with 14 shots compared to 12 for Wingate. Both teams had eight shots on goal in the contest.
  • The second goal for the Bulldogs came with less than six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
  • Etter's breakthrough came with just under six minutes left in the contest. She led the team with six shots, including five on goal.
  • Jessica Rybicki tallied four shots for Belmont Abbey.
  • Belmont Abbey had 8 of its 15 penalty corners in the fourth quarter.
  • Chloe Parker finished with six saves on the day.

  • The Crusaders play their first home game of the 2024 season as the team hosts Newberry on Tuesday.
