BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. -- Freshman Rita Fedewa became the first female cyclist in Belmont Abbey history to win national championship Friday, when she took first place in the 500m Time Trial at the USA Cycling National Collegiate Track Championship.

Fedewa posted a time of 36.419 seconds, almost half a second (.483) faster than the next competitor. Her pace was 49.425 kilometers or 30.7 miles per hour.
