MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey rallied from an 8-4 halftime deficit to force overtime, but Mount Olive converted 1:04 in the extra session for a 12-11 victory over the Crusaders in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
The contest, which featured the last two remaining undefeated teams in conference play, left The Abbey 7-6 overall and 4-1 in league play, while the Trojans improve to 8-3, 5-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tre Childers scored five goals, tying his career high. He found the next three times in a span of 3:54 to took turn a 9-8 deficit into an 11-9 lead.
- Davis McCulley struck twice in a 10-second span during the final 33 second of the third quarter.
- Quinn Smith, Richie Timotheee, Sebastian Parrish and Mike Sweigart rounded out the scoring.
- Caleb Mulcahy won 17 of 26 face offs and grabbed 13 ground balls.
- Belmont Abbey had a 46-41 shot advantage
- The Crusaders entered the game on a six-game winning streak.
