BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey broke a 10-10 tie after three quarters with a five-goal surge in the fourth, leading it to a 15-10 Senior Day win over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action on Saturday. With the victory, The Abbey clinches the No. 2 seed and a quarterfinal round bye for the Conference Tournament.
The hosts improve to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the visitors fall to 8-7, 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harry Maloney scored four goals, including the game-winner 55 seconds into the fourth. It was a man-up goal after an NGU penalty.
- Davis McCulley, Tre Childers, Jacob Power and Thomas Lewis struck for two goals each, while Kyle Davis, Mikey Sweigart and Xavier Miller also found the net.
- Jeremy Mahoney assisted on four of the goals, tying Maloney with a team-best four points.
- Caleb Mulcahy won 23 of 29 face offs and registered 16 ground balls.
- Angus Snow made 11 saves in goal to improve to 9-7 between the pipes.
- The Abbey outshot NGU 53-44 overall and 33-21 on goal. BAC also grabbed 44 ground balls and caused seven of 17 turnovers.
- Belmont Abbey honored 14 seniors in a pregame ceremony.
