Tre Childers scored a season-high four goals and
Angus Snow made 19 saves in goal, leading Belmont Abbey to a 14-10 victory over Lander over non-conference men's lacrosse action Saturday at Alumni Field.
With the win, the Crusaders improve to 5-5, while Lander, which was receiving votes in this week's USILA Top 20 poll, falls to 7-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jeremy Mahoney scored three goals and added an assist to match Childers with a team-high four points.
- Mikey Sweigart added a pair of goals, while five others also found the net.
- Caleb Mulcahy won 23 of 28 face-offs and grabbed 18 ground balls. He also scored a goal.
- After trailing 3-0 late in the first quarter, Belmont Abbey ended the period with back-to-back tallies, then posted a 5-3 advantage in the second for a 7-6 lead at the break.
- Six straight goals -- three in the third and the first three of the fourth -- provided some separation, 13-6 with 11:39 to play.
