Caleb Mulcahy won 25 of 27 face-offs and
Harry Maloney led 14 different scorers with four goals as Belmont Abbey pulled away from Lees-McRae 24-9 in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening. The Crusaders broke open a close game with a 13-5 explosion in the second half.
The Abbey improves to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Bobcats fall to 3-3, 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maloney tallied four goals and two assists for a team-high six points. He also grabbed a ground ball and caused a turnover.
- Tre Childers added three goals on five shots, while five players struck twice. Seven Crusaders added a single tally.
- Belmont Abbey outshot LMC 81-21, including 50-19 on goal. The Crusaders gained 63 ground balls -- 25 by Mulcahy -- and caused 12 turnovers.
- Angus Snow (7-5) earned the win in goal, allowed just five goals in the first 49:39. He made seven saves before giving way to Colin Fay for the final 10:21.
- Overall, the Crusaders won 32 of 37 face-offs.
