Snow Makes 17 Saves against Top-Ranked Lenoir-Rhyne

BELMONT, N.C. -- Angus Snow made 17 saves and Belmont Abbey trailed by just three after three quarters, but No. 1-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne pulled away late for a 12-4 victory over the Crusaders in men's lacrosse action Thursday afternoon. The Bears outscored The Abbey 5-0 in the final period to break open a 7-4 game through 45 minutes.

With the result, the Crusaders fall to 1-1 on the season, while the Bears improve to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Davis McCulley scored twice for The Abbey with both goals coming in the third quarter. They cut the deficit to 6-3 and 7-4, respectively.
  • Joseph Penner and Kyle Davis also found the net for the Crusaders.
  • Caleb Mulcahy won 11 of 14 faceoffs and grabbed nine ground balls. Snow and Ben Johnson were each credited with four GBs.
  • Johnson caused two turnovers, but Belmont Abbey committed 22 to the Bears' nine.
UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey wraps up its season-opening three-game homestand next Saturday against Catawba.
  • The teams will face off at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field.
