BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey moved into sole possession of first place at the midway point of the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball schedule Tuesday night with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20) victory over North Greenville at the Wheeler Center.
The Abbey improved to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in league play, while NGU falls to 6-5, 5-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matthew Staskunas and Zach Puentas each tallied 13 kills, while middle blocker Ethan Rehmann had 12 kills without an error in 16 attempts (.750). Staskunas connected at a .281 clip (13k-4e-32a), while adding nine digs, three service aces and two block assists.
- Joseph Morris tallied a career-high 46 assists, while chipping in two kills, two block assists and an ace.
- Alejandro Leon registered 13 digs, the third time this season he has reached double figures.
- BAC outhit NGU .274-.092 with a season-high-tying 52 kills. The hosts also tallied 9.5 team blocks to just 5.5 for the visitors.
