Zach Puentes tallied a career-high 22 kills and a .439 hitting percentage and
Matthew Staskunas added a double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs, leading Belmont Abbey to a come-from-behind 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13) victory over Barton in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Friday night.
With the result, the Crusaders improve to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in league play while the Bulldogs fall to 5-3, 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentes had just four errors in 41 attempts. He also added seven digs, a service ace and two blocks.
- Staskunas added two aces and four block assists to his stat line.
- Jack Walsh assumed setting duties off the bench in the first set and finish the contest with 41 assists.
- Alex Winiarczyk also reached double figures in kills with 10.
- Libero Alejandro registered a career-best 17 digs. Both of his double-figure totals have come in the last two matches.
- As a team, The Abbey had 55 digs.
- Belmont Abbey hit .269 as a team, compared to .106 by Barton. The Crusaders .connected at a .398 clip after the opening set.
