BELMONT, N.C. --
Matthew Staskunas tallied a season-high 18 kills without an error, hitting .581, and Belmont Abbey connected at a .427 pace -- best of the year -- for a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 27-25) sweep over Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders, winners of three straight, improve to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Trojans fall to 8-3, 2-2 with their second straight conference setback.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Staskunas, who had a double-double last night against Barton, added eight digs, three block assists and a service ace to his afternoon. He accounted for 20.5 of The Abbey's 77 points.
- Zach Puentes reached double figures in kills for the seventh time this season with 13 against five errors (.276). He was among a trio with two aces, while also making two digs and two solo blocks.
- Joseph Morris dished out 37 assists, while Alejandro Leon chipped in five assists and a team-high nine. Morris also had four kills and a .571 hitting percentage.
- Ethan Rehmann tallied three kills and three blocks, while Jibriel Elhaddad hit .636 (8k-1e-11a) with two blocks and two assists.
