BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey posted its best shooting half of the season before intermission -- 70.4 percent -- and had three players over 18 points, leading the Crusaders to a 96-80 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Tuesday night.
Mason Taylor led with 20 points, while adding five rebounds.
With the win, The Abbey improved to 10-14 overall and 8-6 in league play, while the Bobcats fall to 15-9, 8-6. In Northwest Division action, BAC is 3-2, while LMC sits at 1-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wade Jackson came close to a triple-double with 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. He hit seven of 11 free throws in the contest.
- DJ Holloway registered a career-high 18 points, hitting six of nine from the floor. He added six rebounds -- all defensive -- and five steals.
- Three other players reached double figures in scoring -- Kyle Frazier (13), Judah Sault (career-high 13) and Alhousseny Diallo (career-high 12).
- After falling behind 12-2, the 20-7 just 4:52 into the contest, The Abbey used a 20-6 run to grab its first lead, 27-26, midway through the half.
- The Crusaders ended the period on a 15-2 run to post a 49-41 advantage at the break.
- The first-half shooting effort was 19 of 27 overall and also included a perfect six-of-six at the charity stripe.
- Belmont Abbey led by as many as 23 points, 84-61, with 5:08 remaining in the contest.
