Jaden Peters tallied 23 points to lead four players in double figures, but Young Harris pulled away for a 78-70 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Tuesday night. The effort marked the second time this season that he has eclipsed the 20-point mark.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in league play, while the Mountain Lions improve to 9-3, 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Peters made eight baskets, including five from behind the three-point arc to match his team-season-best. He also grabbed two rebounds and made a steal.
- Daniel Lubamba added 16 point with a team-high four rebounds, while Judah Sault and Brian Carter, Jr., chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
- Sault's point total was a career-high, while he also grabbed four boards and had three assists.
- Josh Lindsay dished out a career-best five assists.
- Belmont Abbey shot a 55.6 percent from the field overall, including 60.0 percent in the second half, the best period of the campaign.
- The halftime score was 37-37 in favor of the hosts, but the Mountain Lions took the second stanza 42-33.
