BELMONT, N.C. -- Brian Carter scored 16 points and three other players reached double figures but preseason Conference Carolinas favorite UNC Pembroke pulled away from Belmont Abbey for a 92-62 victory Tuesday night.
The contest marked the season and league opener for the Crusaders (0-1, 0-1), while the Braves improved to 4-4, 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carter hit six of his 11 shot attempts, including four of seven from behind the three-point arc. He also dished out two assists and had a block.
- Dionte Alexander chipped in 15 points on a 6-of-14 shooting effort. He grabbed five rebounds, while adding two assists, a block and a steal.
- Jaden Peters and Jordan Patton also topped double figures with 13 points each. Peters led the team in assists, while Patton was credited with five boards.
- Judah Sault grabbed a team-high six rebounds, playing the entire 40 minutes for the first time in his career.
- Belmont Abbey had just nine turnovers in the contest.
- UNC Pembroke shot 61.7 percent from the field and garnered 60 of its points in the paint.
